Ideal Porcelain Veneer Candidates
The ideal candidate for Round Rock porcelain veneers should be free of oral health issues such as gum disease and tooth decay. However, these conditions do not necessarily preclude you from getting veneers. If you have preexisting oral health issues, they will simply need to be addressed prior to the placement of your veneers.
In addition to being free of common oral health issues, the best candidates for veneers should be prepared for a minor, but irreversible procedure. To place veneers, Dr. Kondoff will first need to remove a small amount of your natural tooth enamel. Once enamel has been removed, it will not grow back, necessitating veneers for the lifetime of your smile.
It is important to remember that although porcelain veneers are sometimes called “instant orthodontics,” they are not an ideal solution for more pronounced malocclusion. If you have severe malocclusion, Invisalign® may be better suited to meet your needs. Veneers are also not suitable for correcting issues such as certain cases of broken teeth. Functional issues are best addressed with solutions such as dental crowns. Dr. Kondoff will discuss all of these things with you during your initial porcelain veneers consultation.
