Porcelain Dental Inlays / Onlays

Porcelain inlays and onlays in Cedar Park are often used as an alternative to white fillings to treat back teeth that have been impacted by tooth decay. Cedar Park dentist Dr. Kondoff can also use inlays and onlays as an alternative to dental crowns for the treatment of teeth that are cracked, chipped, or fractured. In some instances, Dr. Kondoff may suggest these restorations for replacing metal fillings as well.

To learn if porcelain inlays or onlays are the best solution for your smile, please call us to schedule an appointment with Dr. Kondoff today.

What are Porcelain Inlays and Onlays?

Inlays are placed in between the cusps (projections) on the top of a tooth. Onlays are used to treat issues that extend to more than one cusp. Both of these restorations are securely bonded to the surface of the tooth, preventing them from slipping out while also preventing bacteria from seeping in.

The inlays and onlays  offered by Dr. Kondoff are made of porcelain, an incredibly strong, stain-resistant, and reliable material used in a number of dental restorations. Because they are made of porcelain, the placement of inlays and onlays requires two office visits. On your first visit, Dr. Kondoff will carefully prepare your tooth before making an impression to be sent to our dental lab partners. He will then fit you with a temporary restoration to wear while your customized inlay or onlay is created. Once your personalized restoration has been delivered to our office, you will come back in for its placement. This inlay or onlay will be colored, sized, and shaped to fit perfectly onto your tooth and blend flawlessly into your smile.
